A Rebel Prayer

After her father is brutally murdered for putting on an anti-Putin play, 16-year-old Nikita is sent away to a Russian orphanage run by militant and Putin-worshiping headmistress Ekaterina Mukhina. Imprisoned by grief and Mukhina’s tyrannical rule, Nikita is visited by ghosts of protest punk collective Pussy Riot. When they offer her one of their masks, Nikita must decide whether to join them and risk everything in order to lead a rebellion against Mukhina and everything she stands for.
A Rebel Prayer started out as Weil’s and Govedare’s graduate thesis project at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where it received a 29-hour equity reading in spring of 2015. It has been developed at Tisch Center for New Musicals in collaboration with New Studio on Broadway (2015); received a staged workshop through NYU’s CDP program (Collaborative, Production and Development); a writer-focused initiative between NYU’s GMTWP and Undergraduate Drama (2016); and received an excerpt reading at Portsmouth College in Portsmouth, U.K (2017). A Rebel Prayer has additionally been developed at Goodspeed Musicals and The Barnett Residency.

Goodnight Bär

Goodnight Bär, a 30 minute musical originally commissioned by NYMF and the ASCAP foundation, follows a family torn apart overnight by the construction of the Berlin Wall and the start of the Cold War.
A concert version of Goodnight Bär was presented as part of NYMF’s "How The Light Gets In” concert series on December 2, 2019 at the Secret Room.
Group!
Group! is a new full length musical with music by Aleksandra M. Weil, lyrics by Eloise Govedare and book by Julia Rosenblatt. Commissioned in development with NJPAC Stage Exchange and the NJ Theatre Alliance, it is scheduled to premier at The Passage Theater Company (Trenton, NJ) in spring of 2022.
Love In The Dark
Love in the Dark is a one act musical with music by Aleksanra M. Weil, book by Emily Roller, lyrics by Orian Israelsohn.
Love in the Dark has received a production at Dixon Place (2015) and received Equity Reading at NYU’s Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program (2014).
